All my first attempts at home cultivation have seemed to have failed. Got a bit of initial growth in the grain jars i innoculated, but then they stalled. A slight slimy look to the grain that never co... View More

In my experience that l9oks to be early stages of trich. It looks like there are pink spots in there as well which is another sign. I would isolate by itself for a few day to see. If it is trich itll turn green withing 2-3 days.

Im gonna guess both. Isolation and observation. Then lots and lots of bleach if you come to a negative conclusion.

Got a substrate colonised about to mushroom, walking the dog and daydreaming away about the day of harvest and what i will do with the fruits of my labour. When m... View More

This is the problem that bothers me.
The current mckenna theory that hallucinations effected by "sacred" plants somehow has a spiritual and medicinal aspect to it could make sense.
But then what do we ... View More

Right off the bat, solvents can cause major damage to several different organs including permanant brain damage. They can also cause sudden death. So calling them medicinal is off the table. As far as spiritually, its within the realm of possibility for someone to have a spiriual experience from sni... View More

This place always pleasantly surprises me. I posted this status into the great cyber void in a way to get my head around an idea by putting it into words. And here i get some well reasoned answers all grammatically perfect which can only be a result of some thought process taking my question serious... View More

Can i ask if you have a history of drug abuse? That seems to be what youre implying and the reason youre distressed about your use of psychedelics. Psychedelics just arent drugs of abuse, theyre non-addictive and non-habit forming. In fact they are habit disruptors. Many people use them to aid in br... View More

Same spawn innoculating different mediums. The one ropey, and growing upwards in threads, (rhibozoidal or something?) but has taken almosr 30 days to colonise a small tub. The other growing across th... View More

I don't judge your voices, but that sounds theoretically like a solid plan, malt is definitely something mushrooms love - the only problem I see is that bacteria love that stuff also, try it out and see what happens but work extra sterile.

So its normal. Its not what i was expecting. I put some spawn to substrate in a sealed container expecting the substrate to be colonised in ten or so days. Its now been fourteen days and all that has grown are those anemone like fingers. Must i leave it in the sealed container in the dark for longer... View More

If it doesnt work for you try coco coir and vermiculate for a substrate. Its the easiest one and i use it at the time with good results

Its better to learn how they grow first, then you will be able to make your own decisions and best of all know WHY you made them. Good luck

Thanks sladds, I'll give the book a read. Although I've read a bit, got the basic ideas, suppose i was looking for a short cut to circumvent practical experience when that is never possible. . Like you say individual environments, maybe even our thoughts and emotions influence the growth. Got to jus... View More

Yes i realise ms isnt the ideal way to do it, but agar work is a little beyond me at the moment. Once I've had a flush or two and seen the growing process from beginning to end I'll definitely move onto agar. I came into this thinking it would be a simple thing and after scratching the surface and s... View More
