On 6/20 I poured 12 oatmeal agar cups and used B+ and RW spores from prints. Two of the cups obviously contamed with small green mold spots. The other cups have small "halos" around the spores. Is this mycelium starting to grow? I'm still learning and can't find any picures for reference on early mycelium growth....Then there's this, in one cup only....can anyone tell me what it is? Cobweb? Some other contam? The cups were stored upside down so moisture didn't accumulate on the agar. I didn't have any food coloring at the time so the agar is white and its hard to see what I've got going on with any of the cups. Any help is definately appreciated...Mush Love!

Im still pretty new at this, but i would say the white "halos" are myc growth. Is this growth going from your agar up to the side of the cup? If so it very well could be cob web mold. Id leave it be and see how it progresses. If its cobweb mold from my little bit of knowledge it will grow very fast ... View More

@supaflex09 - Yea it goes from the agar to the side of the cup and it picked up some spores on the way up. As of right now its just white but seems like its moving pretty fast. I'll check it in a day or so to see if its progressing.

Definitely looks like codweb or pinhead mold. Unfortunately that plate looks shot. I wouldn't even open it anywhere near your lab. Those black heads show that it's already producing spores, and you'll be fighting an uphill battle if they're released.

long thread like structures are definitely not cubensis, plus they are messy...cubs are more uniform
