Definitely worth a read (or listen) if you ever get the chance. He was the only non-religious translator of the Dead Sea Scrolls and he says the basic concept is that modern religion is based on ancient fertility cults where they would eat psychedelic mushrooms and have orgys and that the story of Jesus was created to hide the true subject (mushrooms) from the public. He traces the etymology of all the words in the Bible. He finds all this really cool music with mosaics of Jesus surrounded by mushrooms... Adam and eve in the garden of eden and all the plants around them are ... you guessed it

I've heard people say that the mushroom itself is not much of a psychedelic but they call it a hypnotica. Because the active chemical in the amanita is a chemical we use for sleeping medications. So having just the mushroom is like having a sleeping medication without going to sleep.
I am familiar with the tribe that discovered drinking the urine of the reindeer after they eat the mushroom. Sounds horrible if you ask me lol. But I have also heard a theory that the amanita is used in so much said art because of it iconic and indistinguishable appearance. Just to push the idea of the mushrooms. Because if they used images of traditional psilocybe mushrooms they could easily be confused for a lot of other non psycho active mushrooms.
There definitely could be a lot we don't know about the amanita. Maybe it contains high amounts of DMT for extracting... just a thought. We definitely have a lot to "relearn" about the plants and fungi of our planet. Also within consciousness.
I do believe some questions are not meant to be answered. It is the mystery that keeps us excited and striving to explore. If we knew the answers to everything life would grow stale in my opinion.
That's my rant...
ZachariahTheBold..... Your last paragraph so beautifully sums it all up in a concise and easy to understand way .... thanks for sharing your thoughts so elegantly put to words!
