I planted along fence and some close to house. It acted like a wind brake and deflector. I sat on back porch smoking. And just a slight breeze watching the bamboo just dance lol

bubble your charcoal and perlite in compost tea. I know this guy does his fertilizer but I do a worm casting bat shit and other things compost tea all the time and when I pot up plants or whatever I do this and it make HUGE difference
