Im pretty sure it can set for sometime if u want. If my experiance when i added the naptha and gently mixed it into the lye/bark solution it took a day to Separate. From my understanding you can let it sit as long as you need. There isn't really a time limit on this stuff. The only side effect you may get is some extra plant oils and fats that tag along for the ride. It won't affect the spice other than color, but that's nothing a good re-x won't solve.
