It sucks you dont get as much but way safer to work with for your first time, less chemicals to mess up if not quite ready. Dont wanna smoke lye if not properly seperated lol

The extra vinegar isnt a problem just use a but extra lye maybe to make sure your ph is up there. You can also get the strips to test ph but i dont even do that i eye ball it and its perfect everytime. You didnt make a mistake brother you succeeded. I wish you luck happiness and comfort brother
