I've tried it with some dried APE but it didn't work at all and got tons of bacteria. They might have been too old. Ended up buying more spores since I couldn't save the genetics I had.

Sweet, i needed this info, thanks for sharing. I had this 213 gram Shakti that i took spores of but it seems sterile, tried like 5 times to germinate the spores from that beast but didnt work. Once you get growth, try the agar sandwich method to get a clean sample Explanation: simply poor a fresh layer of agar on top of your curent sample plate the clean myc will grow up and out if the new agar while the contam stays locked in the middle
