ironically enough, this fruit grew in a tub from a clone which was looking like a "normal" fruit, and the tub that was cloned from the last alien fruit is throwing normal p.e. fruits. it does what it wants apparently

Wonder if you could give it a little stress in the form of cold shock or fully saturate the humidity to trigger it to mutate "on command"
Have you noticed any difference in yield or growth rate between the 2 different appearing fruits?

As long as you're grabbing your sample from the inside I think you're good but a clone from a mutant like this I would aim for about halfway up. Just my thoughts
