View MoreI have found through working with hundreds of people in engaging in interactions of their life narrative, that patterns begin to be identified quickly. Especially this pattern you refer to. I think of it as homeostasis. Which is defined as ~ an individuals formation of forming patterns towards a relatively stable state of equilibrium. As in harmony between interdependent factors, especially as balanced by physiological processes. That is the closest definition I can come up with that we use the word homeostasis for. However, I have found that homeostasis isn’t based on harmony/well-being in either physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual terms. Also, I think of those four terms as one in the same. I view homeostasis as the patterns that individuals form in their lives as they are born into this word without any idea who they/we are, where we came from and where we are going; so they are conditioned by the environment that they are born into, by other beings who have formed their own homeostatic states. I feel that homeostasis is merely the cyclical process of fluctuating between regulatory and dis-regulatory states, which leads to people experiencing various cycles of moods, behaviors, desires, needs, fears, etc, at different time cycles. Some days, weeks, years or even by the hour. As an example, One person I worked with told me that at 18 he met and married his wife within one year. His career made him good money and the ability to move to a new place every year. He loved it, loved moving and changing his environment. However at the same time he longed to have one permanent home when he retired, which he did. And he actually had two beautiful homes, one in Florida and another in a beautiful mountain town out west. He would tell me all the time that he doesn’t understand why he can’t be happy at either place because he loves both homes, both areas and the culture that was embedded in each of those areas. After further exploration, he identified that he was born in a military family, and moved once a year from 4 years old until he graduated high school and continued doing this with his wife. He then identified that no matter where he moved, he loved it at first and with in six months became extremely depressed/suicidal and had deep anxiety which facilitated the next move six months later. Essentially, his homeostatic state was conditioned to be somewhere new every year and experience happiness, and then slowly getting more depressed and anxious until he moved again. We processed this for several sessions before he had a ketamine assisted therapy journey where he was able to find that process in his mind and alter his relationship to the idea. As it became fixed and rigid in his minds neural network that the yearly cycle of fluctuations in moods and happiness were merely conditioned into him by his life experience. Him and his wife have now been living in the same two homes for over three years, and he hasn’t experienced the thoughts or feelings of anxiety and depression driving him to move. It’s interesting finding out patterns. Patterns aren’t bad, and I’m not sharing this to say that your 6-8 year cycle is just conditioned and not something beautiful for you, as it can be. I share it because if it is something that resonates with you as a conditioned patterned hold the hold awareness of it and ask your inner healing intelligence during a deep dive about the process you’ve identified.
