View More@Growgold You have every right to feel how you do. The heartbreak, anger, and disappointment so very palpable it can crack the glass on my screen. But if I could offer a few things from someone who has experienced my own hurt with others over the years. There must have been something special with this person for you to have been drawn to and sacrificed so much for. What outweighs what? Think of the good she has done for you over all of these years. Are you just more in love with the history, and petrified at losing her? Over time we all do and say things that cause disillusionment with others even if the other won’t vocalize it. Communication vs lack thereof. Of course I don’t blame nor justify who did what why. But everyone is capable of making choices that they deem necessary at the time, even if there are known repercussions later; most especially when someone has a volatile relationship with something as harsh as meth. You’ve got kids with this lady? Do they ever want to overhear their dad expressing ‘dumb bitch’ about their mom? The person that birthed them? Could she have been such a ‘dumb bitch’ if she ever fell for you? Friend, please realize you are insulting yourself in the process. Choice of words can be a catalyst to so much! The years invested mean nothing now. Think of it as emotional muscle you’re developing through hurt. I look back on instances when I had devoted so much time and energy (even money) for individuals I had shared my emotional and physical space with…only to later look back at it with regret... tainting my view on men. Creating such a foul, bitter, despondent vibe that without realizing it at the time, I pushed away some very, very promising potentials. I started backtracking why I had such horrible luck with men. What did they all have in common? Addiction. I was a co-dependent in denial. The hero complex, wanting to save others when I needed to do my own saving first. That was then. Now, I won’t revisit my past because it doesn’t matter today. All that matters now is how I approach my present, and those who walk towards it. Nowadays it doesn’t matter how wonderful a man is, alcoholism is an absolute deal breaker for me. My daughter’s father is an alcoholic, the man I lived with right before him was a bipolar alcoholic who died in a cop assisted suicide…and others. Why the hell would I want to have my daughter witness or grow up with destructive repetitive patterns? Think of your children and learned behavior even when you don’t think they’re absorbing. Standards. Treat yourself with a higher regard, purge that anger in a productive, healthy manner. Continue on to your quest to healing-the better you are mentally and emotionally, the better choices you’ll make with better prospects. Wish her the best, you can still love her from a distance if you can’t handle the unpredictability. But accept that sometimes love comes at a cost. I know your heartbreak all too well and am sending you my warmest vibes. You will get through this.
