Hi there, welcome! Humans produce DMT starting with tryptophan which is processed by aromatic acid decarboxylase to tryptamine. Indole-N-methyltransferase adds 2 methyl groups in a stepwise pattern which produces N-methyltryptamine and then finally DMT.
