I have to disagree with the bong wasting too much. You have to efficiently pack the sandwich. I dont use lighters, herb iron works great for me.
You also need to have experience with bongs.
Like know your bowl size. Keep this bowl total smaller than your standard bowl.

For me it seems to take more for the sandwich method before a blast off occurs... Straight works the best for me.
