Vine and I were hanging out in his kitchen. We were both excited. I was excited to see if I could get over this fear produced from my last experience. We watched the stove boil the sloppy mix that we had both taken together a year ago. I was a changed person since the last time. I had also learned a lot, I wasn't stressed over things as much, and I looked at life in a slightly different light. I still had my problems though and was ready to face my demons once again.

We filtered the substance after it had cooled and headed for the mountains which were a few hours away. We wanted to be out in nature this time, all our times before this had been in our houses. Vine had started to experiment by himself too, and had been taking the mixture of Banisteria Caapi and Mimosa Hostilis every weekend for a few months. I thought he was surely out of his mind, if not for the horrible taste alone but because of what he saw. No one in their right mind could ever enjoy the experience of gulping down the worst tasting substance on earth and then being tossed around for infinity to face their deepest fears. No one.

We found a nice location and sat down to camp out. I started a little fire and we set sat near the tent. It wasn’t a typical camping experience because we were planning on taking a powerful hallucinogen, and we couldn't eat any food. We had been fasting for the fearful MAOI counteraction.

The tent that Vine had brought was perfect for the experience, because it was so damn odd. It was a child size tent. I could only fit about half my torso in the tent itself while being squished up next to Vine, more than half my body dangling out of the zipper compartment. We both laughed about it and sat on a nearby stump.
We both clenched our portion of the red and yellow liquid in our hands, both sweating in fear of the future taste and possible trifles we were about to face. I was breathing out heavily. I felt sick and didn’t even consume anything. "See you on the other side." Vine drunk his portion and I followed. We were near a river and more than anything that scared me. I have read stories of small little gnome men who lived near the water coming out to greet people as they journey into the unknown, they often were not the friendliest of folks and I didn’t want to piss them off. We lay there for hours, looking up at the night’s sky like I used to do when I was young. I remembered that light I saw so many years ago which zipped up into space. I wondered if those are the same lights that shamans talk about in the jungle that they call spirits. We laid there and laid there and nothing happened. I fell asleep.

I woke up and Vine was awake. I felt good, I felt refreshed. "What happened?" I wasn't sure. "Nothing, nothing at all," I replied. "Same here, I just fell asleep." "Yeah me too." We packed up our things quickly and got into the car driving to the nearest town ready to eat. We were starving.
