I’m thinking of going from Gordotek to a tek that uses lye. I’ve used gordotek for my dogs safety and mine.. Is there any way to mitigate the dangers of using lye in the process?

There are no serious dangers, wear safety glasses and gloves, add lye very slowly, neutralize waste product prior to disposal, use food grade sodium hydroxide. They use the shit to make pickles, how bad can it be?

Use vinegar to neutralize it. That's why you should have vinegar on hand when using it. Remember in fight club, Tyler grabs the narrator's hand, licks his lips and plants a kiss then dumps lye on the wet spot. In order to stop the burn he dumped vinegar on it

Don't pour water into lye cause reaction will be quite violent. Always add lye to water slowly. Get digital pH meter too.
