So any solid advice for a soon to be new grower?? Dos and donts? What to look for? Is agar kinda a must and benificial in the long run?

View MoreGoofballl1 As much as I wanted to jump in, I spent about four months every day doing research, watching videos, reading discussions on Shroomery.org, Shroomology.com, Reddit, and Mycotopia. Then of course, YT has a plethora of people teaching tools. Some are lengthier than others but I have learned there's always some valuable insight to derive out of them. Sometimes it could get overwhelming from all the information, varying opinions and theories put out there. Learn to take info in stride, since you too will eventually teach what you've learned to others. Leave ego aside, never apologize for asking questions for wanting to learn. I tend to be someone who wants the best out of everything, hone in on that mastery, take what I need and tinker it to my own signature. Would there be anything I would do different? Years ago, I wouldn't have bought a large bedroom set. I have two tents in my master bedroom. One is the wet tent where my more demanding humidity guys go, and then my larger one is used for all of my lab and spawn work. Before I committed to growing mushrooms, I purged things I hadn't used for awhile (still do) clothes, books, art supplies, etc. Keep in mind, this is a very addictive hobby. Commitment: commit to keeping your home in pristine, impeccable shape. Mold manifests in places you didn't think possible. I now recognize some mold before it actually starts spreading, even recognize some smells. You want to master this, every day commit to something that will further your growth. They demand time, yet their space to flourish. Moderation: I did the hard way with every type of contamination imaginable, including maggots and fruit flies. I have lost pounds and pounds of grain. I gained more knowledge; slowing down, and not trying to do so much. There were moments of discouragement, but no choice but to keep going. There is something to learn out of every hurdle: the art of detachment. Patience: Let nature do its thing, no point of trying to rush it since it abides by its own rules. Respect it: Keep your mood in check. I do this seven days a week; it's imperative everyone in my household either step outside our home if they need to cool off or reset their mood. Do not underestimate the power of frequency. Every morning I have a speaker that I blast with music for them, I talk and hum to them. I thank them. Eliminate distractions: that means leaving the phone aside, and focus on one thing at a time until you gain a healthy momentum. Over time, you will notice the work puts you in a meditative state-go with it. Thankfulness: being so damn appreciative and honored of being part of this journey. The rest you will experience at your own pace. Lastly, NEVER doubt your ability to succeed, because you will. You decide to work with agar, practice with it. It goes back to keeping your place and work area in pristine shape. You'll learn how to recognize bacteria or mold, since it starts growing within hours if place is compromised. Wait at least two days before you start inoculating your dishes to make sure they're impeccable. Remember my words: Patience. Be patient, be patient. Breathe. I assure you, every person that gives you advice, you'll undertand more and more once you plunge in.
