So ive seen this same. I think its just a fungus. Not a mushroom. It is not resh for sure. Ive ask a few experts before.

It grew out a really dry area of the ground where a tree used to be. Literally a hundred feet over i found a huge cluster of reishi on the tree. I will post pics shortly

It looks like it could be in the reishi variety. It is from the polypore family based on the pores on the underside. I agree it kinda throws me off as well

Yes Reishi but you harvest them so early. Its dried and deformed due to lack of humidity. We find them a lott here in central India.
