Hi all. New to the world of growing mushrooms. So far I'm not doing too bad. I currently have 2 tubs setup with brf cakes with GT going. Over the last couple days I've been harvesting the first flush. Some are producing beautiful clusters and others...ehh. While that was going on I prepared (12) 1qt rye jars with B+ colonizing them and (12) jars with PE going. Again, so far so good. No contam. Now I'm getting ready to prepare a batch of substrate for the B+ and have some questions. I'm using a blend of Hoffman 1-1-1 manure, coco coir, verm, and used coffee grounds. I was talking to a guy the other day and he suggested mixing in 10% by volumn of some chicken manure 3-4-3 to my substrate. Then he asks me to follow him out to his truck. He pulls a 50# bag of pelletized composted pultry manure out of the bed and gives it to me and tells me good luck. So now I have this bag of chicken manure and don't know if I should try it or not. I've searched everywhere and can't find anything pertaining to adding composted chicken manure to substrate. Any help and guidance would be appreciated.
