Observing, observing, observed
A man woke up, looked at the clock, it was 5:37am, 3 minutes to the Alarm. To most people, this would be nothing ordinary, not anything extraordinary, to the man, it perplexed him. The majority of his life, he has always awakened 2 or 3 minutes to the alarm. Never has he been able to crack its mystery, acceptance that it was a bodily clock, or deep workings of the subconscious, was what he told himself.
Today, he was going to sit with his Lama, and participate with the daily dharma talks at the Buddhist retreat, this was a time filled with anticipation, he really looked forward to this time.
The Lama sat on his colorful mat and was raised by his cushion, no jerky or fast movements were performed by the teacher, the gaze appeared to be fixed on all, everyone felt they were the center of the Lama's attention, this was his
overpowering charisma emanating from his character. Equanimity ,equal love for all of his students was practiced.
The man's attention was fixed, and he was listening, and just then, the topic of conversation came up, how does one's body know to wake up from sleep ?
At first the man, resorted to his time tested theory on the biological clock, and subconscious. The Lama, instead of providing an answer, simply left the question hanging for his students to ponder and work on and the discussion was
closed.
A short time afterwards, the man sat and started his meditation routine. This time, after around 10 minutes, he entered the mind-space, and started on his sandbox world.
Placing his avatar within a small sealed room shaped like a box,and sitting on the floor, a brush was used to paint the walls black, no windows or doors were apparent. The avatar started to breathe, the eyes were closed, the legs were
crossed and the hands assumed a wisdom mudra. The Breathe was followed, the mantra synced to the breathe, rising and falling...
The Man awaited. Would this Avatar also get caught in its own storyline, and get carried away with its thoughts? Could it stop being present? The man was the Observer, the avatar was a representation of his body and its thoughts. Then it happened. The observer witnessed a random thought, While knowing this thought, he watched, soon enough another completely unrelated thought took over, and the first passed out of existence.
The brush was used to remove the Object, then the room. The game was concluded. It had a outcome, and it was a major upset.
There was a symbiotic relationship happening, the avatar and observer were caught up within a enmeshment of attachment towards each other. Sharing one mind, the mind voice sounded the same, neither could define each's own.
Both were misdirected.
Disconnecting the Observer from the body and its thoughts, is the insight, that leads to the awakening.
The body continues along, never knowing any difference. The Observer is now the real driver, there is no going back, you are now Present.
The first time the man opened his eyes, he was just a few weeks old, he had no memory of this event, but this time, when he opened his eyes, he was like a newborn, ready to experience life fresh again, with a new view, and coupled with the drive from rebirth.
