I think it's all encompassing actually.....the beginning of the wakening brings on the suffering and then the self awareness of what is happening is the catalyst that keeps us moving with the ascension, the order is really not as important as the whole experience itself. imo

That cycle could repeat according to Hindu/Buddist thought - , i understand a complete awakening will lead less to ascension and more to disolution into the allness or returning as a bodhisatva not to rediscover your truth.
Semantics i guess, lets ascend and find out!
