The very first ever Materia Medica was written by Shennong Bencao Jing from China. Many other countries, such as Egypt, India, and Greece had their own versions in the later centuries. This copy from China was found in the Mawangdui Tomb which was sealed in 168 BC. This Materia Medica has over 365 medicines and of that 365, 252 are herbs. Shennong is labeled the first ever pharmacologist. Hippocrates takes the rightful spot as the father of medicine. Followed by Theophrates, disciple of Aristotle, and the Father of Botany. ❤️
