Thing called "krokodil", was very popular in Russia and all ex soviet countries in 90's, people were rotting after couple weeks after starting doing that. I was to young, but heard a lot of stories from my older buddies and my parents about that

It's gone now, it hit like hurricane though, came out of nowhere, did a lot of damage, and dissapeared (I'm guessing the government took care of it)
