Duke's Acid-to-Base On The Fly
I will be updating this thread throughout the night.
In my bark solution jar (a half gallon pickle jar) I have:
one half lb of Tepezcohuite inner root bark (M. Hostilis, Chiapas region),
1 cup white vinegar
1 liter of distilled water
~At 930pm Central I will be adding one quarter cup of NON IODIZED (kosher) salt to that jar to aid in the process of leaching my DMT from the cells of the bark and into my aqueous solution.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my Plastic pitcher I have:
.5 lb sodium hydroxide
1 liter of tap water
in an ice bath to keep the overall temperature of my caustic solution as low as possible during the process of saturating it.
~At 11PM central I will add this caustic solution to my bark solution jar to convert all of my DMT citrate and tannate salts into DMT freebase.
Stand by for updates on solvent pulls and precipitation:
===================================================
"Basification" (adding my caustic solution to my bark solution).
I add the lye solution to the bark solution while my bark solution jar is immersed in a cool water bath to keep my temperature down during the process. I add it a little at a time until I see little grey clouds forming. I slowly add some more until eventually Ive poured all of my caustic solution into my extraction vessel (the bark solution pickle jar).
Wrapping a wad of paper towels around the "sealed" lid I then tilt the jar back and forth to mix contents thoroughly. This creates a great amount of heat, which I mitigate with the aforementioned cool water bath. I allow the now basified jar containing my DMT freebase to react for just over an hour.
====================================================
1st pull:
I have measured out 200ml of VM&P Naptha and added it to my basified bark solution.
I dont need to steam bathe my naptha pulls because my base solution is plenty hot and that heat will be sufficient to maximize solubility. I closed the lid of my jar and wrapped its lid with a towel to prevent any droplets of base solution from getting onto my hands and gently rolled the jar end over end (in figure 8 motions) for 5 whole minutes. When the naptha has separated back out I will tumble the jar again. When that settles I will begin recovering the 1st pull with a dropper/volumetric pipette and adding my 2nd pull. I will do 4 pulls tonight.
