A Winter's Lament
In the heart of winter's dominion,
A rose bush surrenders its pride,
Beneath the cold and merciless shroud,
Its crimson dreams denied.
Each tender bud, now silenced,
Buried beneath a sheet of white,
Their whispered prayers for sunlight,
Drowned in the quiet of the night.
With heads bowed low in reverence,
They kiss the frozen earth,
The weight of winter's burden,
Reveals a different kind of worth.
As darkness seeks to smother,
The fading memory of their bloom,
The roses lie in wait, patient,
For time shall heal their wounds.
And in the stillness of their longing,
An ancient truth is spoken,
The cycle of life and death,
A fragile bond, unbroken.
For even in the bitter cold,
A promise lingers in the air,
The sun will rise, the snow will melt,
And life shall persevere.
The beauty of each fallen petal,
A testament to nature's will,
In the wake of winter's sorrow,
The rose's heart beats softly, still
