Hope everyone that reads this is doing good.So I’m extracting today and I need some input on wether or not I’m supposed to pick up that stuff floating in between the naphtha and lye?? What is this layer? Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you mean by ‘washed the naptha before using it again’.
To clean non polar solvent, it would either need to be vacuum distillation… or by using activated charcoal and filtering twice. If solvent is yellow, it still contains fats/lipids

I just shook the naptha and some distilled water. The water turned murky I did that twice. I read on a tek forum that you can wash it that way and adding a pinch of sodium carbonate to the water. I didn’t have sodium carbonate so I just used water.

Water wash is ‘usually’ used to clean what was extracted… in order to remove base or sodium hydroxide that could have carried over and contaminated final yield. Similar to a re-ex.
