We also have a holiday called Mari Lwyd (more southern Wales) where you carry a horse skull on a pole, and hide under a sack cloth. Then you knock on peoples' doors, then aggressively sing at them until they maybe let you in.

I don't really know what the exact translation is (my mum's the one who speaks fluent Welsh!) but the full Welsh name for it is Y Fari Lwyd.
