Imo you’d wanna take a tiny piece and put it directly in the middle of a new plate....let it grow out to where it’s alllmost touching the sides but not touching the sides. Then use it to inoculate. Also (this is just the way I do things...it’s totally up to you) I try to work with the myc until it grows out to be a perfect circle of mycelium then use it to inoculate...
Rotate your nutes too.. for example I go back n forth between dog food agar and malt extract agar ...sometimes brf agar
